Anyone who has visited The Regency Club can see how busy the kitchen is through the open plan setting. A view of the kitchen allows you to see the chefs cooking at the grills, fryers, clay tandoor where our fresh tandoori naan are made. The dedicated kitchen team serve an astonishing 600 people on a Sunday and in the duration of a year, 32,000 portions of Garlic Mogo were cooked and served, which is one of The Regency Clubs favourite dishes. This kitchen, you could say is magical especially with all the daily kitchen maintenance, food preparation and cooking that happens in this part of The Regency Club. The kitchen is the heart of The Regency Club, and with our passionate team with the love of good food, it is hard to find a kitchen that works well all around.
The Kitchen Team
In the kitchen there are a total of 14 staff, 8 of which are chefs with no hierarchy of executive or junior roles. With a busy kitchen at The Regency Club, skills can be applied all around to manage the efficiency of the kitchen. To become a chef at The Regency Club, requires an individual to have no professional training or qualifications in cooking and catering. As none of the chefs had any background in working in any kitchen, The Regency Club has put their heart into ensuring that all the dishes on their menu can be cooked a hundred times by different chefs with the same taste and texture of each dish. No chef is where he is without starting off by washing dishes when they first start to work at The Regency Club and each individual will work their way up to become an experienced member of the kitchen staff. Each member of the kitchen team absorbs the daily running of the kitchen, learning the basics of The Regency Club kitchen etiquette and smelling the aromas of the spices cooking over the grills. Taste is important to The Regency Club and our kitchen staffs’ palates are accustomed to the food that our guests love to eat and for us it is important to maintain the standard of the freshly cooked food and that our team knows the flavours of the dishes that we have on our menu. From this comes innovation and ideas of how we can develop our specials menu and as long as we have The Regency Clubs stamp of approval you may see something different on our specials menu the next time you visit.
